This project develops a digital twin platform to support the sector coupling of energy-intensive industrial processes with electricity and district heating systems. The project addresses the flexibility potential of industrial processes and explores how such flexibility can contribute to the balancing of energy systems while considering cost, CO2 emissions, production quality, and operational constraints. The platform builds on IoT, edge computing, cloud-based software, Big Data, AI, and digital twin technologies to provide decision makers with actionable insights and scenario-based recommendations.
